SPIRO–Beatrice Lewis, 93, of Spiro, passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011 in Fort Smith. She was born on Nov. 14, 1917 in Winston County, Ms. to Charlie Dugan and Georgia Avery Dugan. Her early childhood was spent in Louisville, Ms. Before moving to Fort Coffee at the age of six.
She was a member of Macedonia Church of God, an election poll worker for the LeFlore County Election Board, volunteer for the Fort Coffee Head Start Program and participated in the activities of the Fort Coffee Senior Citizen program.
Services are Friday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church in Fort Coffee with Rev. Wesley D. Hooks officiating. Interment will be in Fort Coffee Cemetery under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.
She is preceded in death by her father; mother; four brothers; three sisters; a daughter; and her husband.
She is survived by daughters, Lula Mae Johnson and Kathleen Scott of Fort Coffee; son, retired Sgt-Major Marvail Lewis of Fort Coffee; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Genevia Ruff.
The family will be at the Evans & Miller Funeral Home in Pocola on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. to visit with relatives and friends.
