On my mind today is how President Obama is pushing unpopular issues as he begins a serious campaign to be re elected to our nation’s highest office. Tax the rich, stimulus packages, amnesty for illegals, and this week ending the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy on homosexuals serving in the military.
DADT was first put in place by Bill Clinton in December 1993. Before that, homosexuals were not allowed to serve in the military. If they lied about their sexual preferences to get in then were discovered, they were discharged and sometimes court marshaled.
A lot of young men claimed they were homosexual to avoid the draft during the Vietnam era.
President Clinton’s directive allowed them to serve but keep their sexual preferences secret. This week with President Obama’s blessing, homosexual men and women can now serve openly in the United States Armed Forces.
When President Obama took office in January 2009 our national debt was $10,625,053,544,309.79 and unemployment was 7.9%. The first stimulus was supposed to keep unemployment from rising above eight percent, but it is now over 10 percent and still going up. Our national debt is now near $14 trillion, 750 billion. Congress is spending $1.5 trillion a year more than it takes in.
There is a thousand billion in one trillion. If we began today to reduce the national debt by one billion a year, it would take more than 14 thousand years to pay it all off. We have to do better, much better. That means the American people must stop expecting so much from the government.
After achieving getting our debt limit increased another $2 trillion plus, he is now proposing more stimulus programs to get people back to work and offering a plan to pay for this new spending by adding even more taxes on “the wealthy.”
Of course that plan is supported by a population who pay no taxes at all and the congresscritters they elect.
He has issued a policy that will not deport illegal aliens who have not committed any crimes. Those who support enforcing our illegal immigration laws are calling this back door amnesty. Reports vary on support for immigration reform, depending how the question is asked, but those opposed to amnesty for those who have entered our country illegally are consistently above 50 percent and as high as 85 percent.
On June 9 of this year President Obama signed Executive Order 13575 that, if you read it carefully and understand the background, lays another stepping stone in the path toward the United Nations’ plan for a One World Order in the 21st century; Agenda 21.
I suspect all of this is part of the plan to make him so unpopular he will step aside and not run for reelection, after driving us so close to total Socialism, and leaving the door open for the biggest Socialist of them all, Hillary Clinton, to pick up the Democratic torch in the 2012 elections.
It is sure something to think about. To be fair, I have no more confidence in the Republican media selected front runners for president than I do Obama or Clinton.
