POTEAU–The top two seeds have advanced to meet in Wednesday’s winners bracket finals.
Top-seeded Poteau got a big night from RaeLynn Caldwell to down Heavener, 10-0, while Spiro edged Panama, 4-3, in the two winners bracket semifinals Tuesday.
Caldwell got the win in the shutout and also drove in three runs to help the Lady Pirates down fourth-seeded Heavener and move one step closer to claiming another LeFlore County Tournament.
Alayna Holdsworth slammed a home run for the final tally of the night and give Poteau the run-rule win over Heavener.
Spiro came back from an early deficit to take a 3-1 lead over the third-seeded Lady Razorbacks before Kaylee Cox and the Lady Bulldogs fought off a last-inning rally from Panama to get the win and advance to take on Poteau, which is 2-0 this season in games between the top two seeds.
Wister and Howe both had to win a pair of games in the losers bracket to stay alive.
Wister started slow against Arkoma before putting away the Lady Mustangs, 13-3, and then eliminated Pocola in a late game, 3-0.
Howe rebounded from its loss to Poteau on Monday to stay alive with wins over Bokoshe, 10-1, and then edging Talihina in the last game of the night, 6-0.
In Wednesday’s early games, Heavener plays Wister and Howe faces Panama, both at 6 p.m. The winners of those two games play at 7:30 p.m. Poteau and Spiro also play at 7:30 p.m.
