Pocola passed its first big test of the season while Talihina and Arkoma also stayed undefeated in county football games Friday night.
Pocola visited Quinton and pulled out a 15-14 win to improve to 3-0 and hand the Savages their first loss of the season.
Talihina celebrated its home opener with a big 40-7 victory over Central for the Tigers’ 34th straight regular season win. The Tigers improved to 3-0 and defeated an opponent which has played them tough over the past few years.
Arkoma traveled all the way to Norman to face Southwestern Christian and stayed undefeated, although the Mustangs were without standout Tyler Sweeten.
In other games Friday, Roland used a late field goal to edge Spiro, 10-7, Heavener got blistered by an impressive Paris team on the road, 50-0, Gore made sure former coach Brandon Ellis’ homecoming was not a good one with a 30-0 win and Webbers Falls won an easy one over Bokoshe, 58-0.
