After another wild weekend of football, the district races for county schools are still far from undecided.
Arkoma, Poteau, Spiro, Heavener, Pocola and Talihina still have shots at making the playoffs.
Arkoma passed one big test Friday with an 86-36 win over a Midway team which had been undefeated in district play before getting pummeled by the Mustangs.
Now, Arkoma has another big test Thursday when the Mustangs travel to meet Webbers Falls for what will likely be the deciding game for the district championship.
Arkoma is 7-0 overall and 4-0 in district play. Webbers Falls is 6-1 and 5-0.
In 4A, Sallisaw and Hilldale are the only remaining teams undefeated in the district and play on Friday. Broken Bow is in third place and Webster in fourth while Fort Gibson, Poteau and Stilwell are a game back. Muldrow has not won a district game yet.
After a 41-7 loss at Sallisaw Thursday, Poteau will probably have to win out to make the playoffs and still might need some help. The Pirates are 3-4 and 1-3. Broken Bow is 5-2 and 3-1 with its only district loss coming to Hilldale.
Sallisaw and Hilldale are both 4-0. Webster is also ahead of Poteau in the district with a 2-2 record, including a win over the Pirates.
Seminole appears to be headed toward a district championship in 3A. The Chieftains are undefeated overall and in district play. Stigler is 3-1 in the district while Spiro, Eufaula, Valliant and Idabel are all 2-2 in the district.
There are several big games this weekend which will go a long way toward determining the standings. Spiro is at Valliant, Idabel plays at Seminole and Stigler is at Atoka, which is 1-3 in the district, a game behind the foursome at 2-2.
In 2A, Vian, Hartshorne and Wilburton are undefeated in district play. Hartshorne plays Vian on Friday, which will likely decide the district championship while Wilburton hosts Talihina.
After those three, the final playoff spot will come down to between Talihina, Pocola and Heavener. The Tigers have lost to the two other county schools, so they will need to beat at least one of the top three teams to reach the playoffs.
Talihina still has games remaining against the three teams still undefeated in district play while Pocola and Heavener are through with the top three and have district games against each other and Panama.
