Last year, Spiro was undefeated and on a roll as the Bulldogs visited Seminole.
That Seminole team had already lost a district game, but pulled off a big upset with a 22-21 win.
This year, the shoe is on the other foot. Seminole is perfect on the season and alone atop the district standings as the Chieftains visit Spiro tonight.
Spiro enters the contest at 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the district while Seminole is 6-0 and 3-0. If Spiro can pull off the win and get a little payback from last year, the Bulldogs will be tied for the district lead.
There is another big district game in the northern part of the county tonight as Arkoma hosts Midway in a matchup of two teams which are undefeated in district play.
Arkoma is perfect on the season at 6-0, but is in a three-way tie for the district lead with Midway and Webbers Falls, also undefeated in district play.
The Mustangs smashed Maud 62-14 last week in what was expected to be their toughest game so far. Midway has lost one non-district contest.
Pocola will try to build on its momentum from last week’s 34-33 win over Talihina as the Indians travel to face a tough Hartshorne team tonight. Pocola is 4-2 overall and 1-2 in district play while Hartshorne is 5-1 and 2-0.
A win tonight would give Pocola a good shot at hosting a playoff game.
Talihina will need to bounce back from last week’s loss when the Tigers host Heavener in a battle of county foes. The Tigers are 5-1 overall and 1-1 in district play while the Wolves are 1-5 and 0-3 in the district.
The young Panama team has its biggest challenge of the season as the Razorbacks travel to powerful Vian tonight. Panama is still looking for its first win while Vian is undefeated and ranked in the top 5 in Class 2A.
