The Boys and Girls Club of LeFlore County has been charged to boldly move forward to lead with impact and deepen the Boys & Girls Clubs experience by ensuring each child who is a member of our club realizes their dreams and reaches their full potential.
Our plan is to deepen our impact by using Five Key Elements for Positive Youth Development:
1)Safe, positive environment
4)Opportunities and expectations
By setting goals and having a positive outlook on the future we hope to increase the frequency of school attendance of all members. By offering a varied schedule of programs and high-yield activities, we hope to increase our after-school attendance.
It is these five elements that should drive our efforts both locally and nationally.
We want our Club to be a safe place, we want it to be fun and we want not only to support the kids in all they do but support parents as well.
Our mission is to create opportunities for young people and have high expectations for all club members and the kids should have high expectations of us.
One thing I think we lack is giving recognition to all kids for all their accomplishments. But, giving praise when praise is due is very vital to the development and positive outlook on the future of a child.
We know that if we can accomplish all these five steps that it will result in positive youth outcomes in academic success, good character and citizenship as well as choosing a healthy lifestyle.
A critical strategy for understanding our impact is outcome measurement. In order to truly make a difference in the lives of youth, we need to develop a strategy to establish and improve the effectiveness of our services and programs.
Measuring outcomes is the only way that you can truly determine if programs are having their desired impact, and ultimately have an advantage when competing for resources.
We are planning a kids basketball tournament for Dec. 3 and 4 for grade 3rd and 4th and 5th and 6th. Entry fee is $100 per team. For more information contact our office at
