The esteemed Panel Pickers were of the same thought last week, which is more than a little scary.
The three members of the Panel were all 7-2 last week with Jerry Pitchford taking top honors by winning the tiebreaker by coming closest to the points scored by Oklahoma State in its win over Texas. Doug Hall and Mark Caldwell were also 7-2.
“I’d rather win outright but a win is a win and I think that is what my fans expect out of Jerry Pitchford,” Pitchford did not bother to say. “Naturally, I did come closest to the points the Pokes scored. It is what it is and Jerry Pitchford will take the win.”
Overall, Hall still holds a narrow lead by one game over Pitchford and two over Caldwell, the defending Panel champion.
“I’m feeling good about my chances,” Hall didn’t say, either. “Sure, it’s a lot of pressure but let’s face it, I’m a leader and all the pressure is on Caldwell and Pitchford.”
“Lot of football and picks left!” Caldwell failed to say. “This is the week when I make my move. There is a reason why I am the champion. I’ve been there before and know what it takes. They don’t.”
