The playoff runs for the two LeFlore County football teams came to an abrupt half Friday night.
Both Arkoma and Heavener played ranked opponents in the first round of the state football playoffs and saw their seasons come to an end.
In Class C, Arkoma fell behind early at home to sixth-ranked Covington-Douglas and the Mustangs were eliminated, 54-8. Arkoma ends its season at 9-2 while Covington-Douglas advances to the second round with a 9-2 mark.
Heavener even had a tougher test as the Wolves visited No. 4 Stroud in Class 2A action. Stroud remained undefeated with a 47-7 win over the Wolves and also advances to the second round. Stroud is now 11-0 while Heavener, which made the playoffs for the first time since 2008, finish at 4-6.
