Pocola swept a pair of games from Panama while Bokoshe’s girls stayed undefeated and Dakota Watson had a huge game as LeFlore won at McCurtain.
Pocola’s girls used a 15-5 run in the third quarter to come back and then had to survive a pair of late shots to win at Panama, 48-46.
The Lady Indians trailed at halftime 22-13, before taking the lead with the big third quarter. Pocola eventually stretched its margin to 39-31 before Panama rallied. Hannah Goines was fouled while shooting a three.
She made all three free throws to cut the deficit to two. Panama had two shots in the final 3.6 seconds, but both were off the mark, giving Pocola the win. Breanna Vaught had 12 points to lead Pocola, now 1-1, while Shayla Thompson and Taylor Farley each had 11.
Lauren Smith scored 17 points to lead Panama, 0-1, while Goines added 14.
In the boys game, Pocola improved to 2-0 with a 75-50 win over the Razorbacks. Preston Hobbs had a game-high 22 points to lead Pocola while Grant Severe added 16. Anthony Milburn led Panama with 13 points while Colby Skelton added 11.
LeFlore’s boys continued their impressive early-season performance Thursday as Watkins scored 37 points to lead the Savages to an 84-65 win at McCurtain.
Caleb Smith added 21 points for LeFlore and Brandon Morris had 12.
LeFlore’s girls came up just short, falling to McCurtain, 52-49. Lyndsey Mote had 18 points to lead the Lady Savages.
At Bokoshe, Christina Silva hit a three late to give the Lady Tigers the lead for good and they held on for a 36-34 win over Keota.
Bokoshe had to overcome a slow start to get the win. Keota outscored the Lady Tigers, 15-4, in the first quarter, but Bokoshe got back in the game by scoring 20 points in the second quarter.
The Lady Tigers, now 4-0, led by 13 in the fourth quarter before Keota rallied to take the lead with around a minute left, setting the stage for Silva’s winning basket.
Brianna Brassfield and Jamie Carberry were the leading scorers for Bokoshe with 11 points each. Bokoshe plays Battiest Monday at 5:20 p.m. in the EOSC Tournament.
