Talihina’s girls suffered their first loss of the season, Howe’s girls advanced to the finals of the Wilburton tournament and Poteau lost a pair of games at Stilwell in county basketball action Friday.
Also, Roland rolled into Spiro and came away with a pair of wins (see STORY).
Stigler’s girls have been tough on LeFlore County teams this year. Last week, Stigler handed Spiro its first loss and did the same thing to Talihina with a 41-36 win.
In the second game, Stigler held on late for a 44-42 win.
Howe’s girls advanced to the finals of the Wilburton tournament with a 44-38 win over Wright City.
Poteau’s boys lost the lead late, tied the game in the final seconds and then came up short in overtime in a 47-41 loss at Stilwell. The Lady Pirates stayed close for the first half of the contest before Stilwell won, 64-45.
Amber Holt scored 27 points as Heavener came back from a 12-point deficit in a 54-52 win at Pocola. The Lady Indians led 40-28 before Heavener started coming back.
Sadie Watkins added 15 points for Heavener, now 3-4. Breanna Vaughn led Pocola with 14 points, Taylor Farley added 11 and Shayla Thompson finished with 10.
Grant Severe and the Indians dominated the second game. Severe torched the Wolves with 32 points as Pocola grabbed a big lead early and smothered Heavener in the third quarter with a 66-40 win. Omar Qamoun added 11 for the Indians.
Luke Culpepper led Heavener, now 3-4, with nine points.
Also, Arkoma’s girls stayed hot with a 66-42 win over McCurtain.
