Arkoma’s girls knocked off previously undefeated Bokoshe while Talihina and Heavener split a pair of games in LeFlore County basketball action Tuesday night.
Poteau and Spiro also split their two games (see STORY).
Bokoshe’s girls were 8-0 heading into their home game with Arkoma, but the young Lady Mustangs picked up their biggest win in a long time with a 69-48 win over the Lady Tigers.
Arkoma, which won its own tournament over the weekend, bounced back from a loss at Howe on Monday to stun Bokoshe and improve to 5-2 on the season. Kelsi Johnson had 30 points to lead the Lady Mustangs, Shaylea Whisenhunt added 22 and Bennye Torpe scored seven.
Talihina’s girls are now the only undefeated team in the county after winning at Heavener, 54-45. The Lady Tigers led only 29-28 at halftime but used a three-pointer by Chelsea Baggs and a basket by Tara Hawkins to start the second half hot.
Heavener’s boys jumped out to a 40-15 lead at halftime over the Tigers and coasted to a 62-41 win to improve to 2-3. Trevor Smith led four Wolves in double figures with 19 points. Tyler Hamm had 14, Shaun Bradley 13 and Luke Culpepper 10.
Heavener’s next game is Thursday when it hosts Wister.
