It was a night of revenge for three county girls teams and Tasha Janway came up big for Cameron’s girls Friday night in county basketball action on a busy night.
Janway hit a 3 as the buzzer sounded, helping the Lady Jackets win, 43-41, over McCurtain in a thriller.
Cameron’s boys finished off the sweep in the second game with a 57-51 win. Ryan Carter had 20 points to lead the Jackets while Austin Standridge added 17 and Dylan Poor 12.
Poteau’s boys snapped a three-game losing streak with a 39-26 win at Sallisaw. The Pirates only led by three at halftime, but outscored the Black Diamonds 21-11 in the final half as Wilson Klutts paced the Pirates with 17 points.
The Lady Pirates were outscored 16-5 in the second quarter and could never recover as Sallisaw won, 51-32. Montana Roll led Poteau with eight points.
Trevor Smith had 31 points to lead Heavener to a 59-51 win at home over Hartshorne. The Lady Wolves avenged an earlier 58-25 loss to Hartshorne with a 54-46 win.
Spiro split a pair of games at Roland. The boys fell, 75-61, to the undefeated Rangers despite 25 points by Knifeis Carter. Jermaine Jimmerson added 14 for Spiro while Devon Perry had 13 as Spiro’s five-game winning streak was snapped.
The Lady Bulldogs got a little payback on Roland for a 63-58 loss at home earlier in the year. Philicea Mack had 20 points in leading Spiro to a 61-56 win. Tanisha Hutchinson added 16 and Meochea McKesson added 13.
Howe swept a pair of road games at Arkoma in the only battle of two county schools.
Howe’s girls downed Arkoma, 72-49, as the Lady Lions hit a whopping 14 3-pointers in the game. Megan Brown led the Lady Lions with 16, Tori Kellogg had 13, Brooke Vandever 12 and Abigail McGarrah finished with 10. Bennye Torpe led Arkoma with 20 points.
Howe’s boys were too much for the Mustangs as they won, 57-34. Stephen Helmandollar paced a balanced scoring attack with 16 points for the Lions. Tanner Steward had 18 and Christian Davis 10 for Arkoma.
Talihina’s girls got some payback against Stigler with a 50-40 win in overtime. Stigler had earlier handed the Lady Tigers their first loss of the season.
Talihina’s boys also pulled off a big win with a 61-38 decision over the Panthers.
Wister split a pair of games at Keota. Bryanna Warren led the Lady Wildcats in a 48-33 win with 15 points while Jayla Roath and Cheyanne Pilkington each had 10.
Wister’s boys suffered a 55-47 loss to the Lions despite 20 points by Cody Luman and 12 by Clint Crane.
