Day 1 of the 2012 LeFlore County Tournament is complete and the top guns come out to play today as the top three seeds in both the boys and girls division get their first shot at the tournament after receiving a bye for Monday.
Game story on Day 1 and updated brackets can be seen HERE.
There are some good matchups, as expected. For the girls, top-seeded Howe faces Panama, which blasted Pocola on Monday. The two teams met earlier in the Panama Festival with Howe winning, 56-35, but the LadyBacks have gotten on a roll the last couple of weeks.
Also, fifth-seeded Heavener takes on fourth-seeded Bokoshe in a rematch of a semifinal game in the 2011 LCT while third-seeded Talihina tries to overcome 11th-seeded Arkoma, a winner over Wister on Monday, and Poteau, fresh off its first win of the season, battles second-seeded Spiro.
The top-seeded Spiro boys take on eighth-seeded Howe for the second time this season after the Bulldogs outlasted the Lions, 79-62, in the Panama Festival. But this is a different Howe team as the Lions should be at full strength and they are on a roll.
Fifth-seeded Cameron meets fourth-seeded Wister for the third time this season. The two teams have each won on the other team’s court earlier in the year and are coming off easy wins on Monday.
Third-seeded Heavener meets sixth-seeded Pocola as the Wolves have struggled coming into the tournament while the Indians are on a roll and downed Heavener in an earlier meeting. The final winners bracket game for Tuesday as second-seeded Poteau trying to eliminate Talihina, the 10th seed and two-time champions.
