SPIRO–Paul E. Carter, 75, of Spiro passed away Jan. 17, 2012 in Poteau. He was born Feb. 28, 1936 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Henry William and Ocie Ola (Underwood) Carter.
Funeral services are Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mallory Martin Chapel in Spiro with Rev. Eddie Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro.
He is survived by his wife, Susie (Mahar) Carter of the home; two daughters, LaDonna Sherie’ Castillo and husband Samuel of Spiro and Crystal Gwin of Spiro; two sons, Carl Wayne Carter and wife Susan of Lavaca and David Edward Carter and wife Michelle of Panama; a brother, Donald Carter and wife Marna of Spiro; seven grandchildren, Shanna Carter, Cheyenne Carter, Kaleb Davis, Josie Castillo, Dana Carter Slater, Carl Wayne Carter, Jr. and Kyria Franklin; and four great-grandchildren, Miya Hoang, Laela Carter, Jordan Slater and Cydneeh Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Elmer, Earl, and Kenneth; and three sisters; Wanda Pendegraff, Edith Mitchell and Bonnie Boyer.
Pallbearers are Vernon Bunch, Wayne Moody, Bill Young, Gary Parker, Glen Martin, and Charles Whillhite. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Willbanks and Wesley Clark.
The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
