The OSSAA has announced district assignments for all teams in Class 2A, 3A and 4A for the district tournaments on Feb. 17-18.
If the OSSAA’s goal was to have teams play opponents they have not played during the district tournament, the organization certainly did that in Class 3A and 4A.
In Class 4A, Poteau was given a district at home against Hilldale. Hilldale’s boys are currently 10-8 while the Lady Hornets are only 3-11
The two teams are in Area IV. The regional main site is Sallisaw with the sub-site at Roland and the area is at the Muskogee Civic Center. Poteau will play the first round of the area at Roland.
Heavener and Spiro were placed in Area IV in Class 3A and both sent on the road for districts. Heavener was sent all the way to Kansas while Spiro is at Eufaula.
Kansas’ girls are 17-2 and the top ranked team in Class 3A while the boys are 13-6. Eufaula’s boys are 5-11 while the girls are 13-4 and ranked 12th.
Heavener’s regional is at Wilburton while Heavener serving as a sub-site. Spiro’s regional is at Carl Albert State College with Muldrow and Spiro serving as a sub-site.
The area tournament is at Fort Gibson.
All the county 2A teams are in Area IV with teams assigned to two different regionals.
Talihina was assigned to a district at Warner. The third team is Summit Christian. The regional is at Warner with Crowder serving as the sub-site.
Panama is hosting a district which will also include Gore and Pocola. Wister is hosting another district with Fort Towson and Howe.
The regional is at Ada with Atoka and Howe the sub-site. The area tournament is at Wilburton.
Districts for the Class A and Class B teams start this week and were previously announced. The county’s two Class A schools, Arkoma and Cameron, will be in a district tournament at Cameron starting Friday.
Cameron’s girls will play Clayton Friday with the winner taking on Arkoma Saturday. Arkoma’s boys will play Clayton Friday with the winner facing Cameron on Saturday.
The Class B schools were placed in a different area. Bokoshe and LeFlore are in Area III while Whitesboro is in Area IV.
Bokoshe is in a district at Kinta along with Midway. The Bokoshe girls and Kinta boys got the bye. LeFlore and McCurtain play for the district championship on Saturday.
Whitesboro is hosting a district tournament. Whitesboro’s boys play Eagletown on Friday with the winner playing Moyers Saturday. The Moyers and Eagletown girls play Friday with the winner taking on Whitesboro on Saturday.
