SPIRO–Mable Pettigrew, 88, of Spiro passed away Feb. 21, 2012 in Spiro. She was born May 7, 1923, in Alma to Ezra and Mary Mattie (Huff) Barnes and was a member of Cavanaugh Baptist Church in Fort Smith.
Funeral services are Thursday at 10 a.m. at Mallory-Martin Chapel in Spiro. Burial will follow at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, under the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home of Spiro.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Merrell Pettigrew of the home; two daughters Mattie May Bunch and husband, John of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Sharon Janeice Sockey of Spiro; three sons Kenny Pettigrew and wife, Barbara of Spiro, Larry Pettigrew and wife, Helen of Spiro, and Donnie Pettigrew and wife, Melissa of Cowlington; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Troy L. Schuler; two sisters, Dorothy Middleton and Beaulah Asher; one brother, Henry Barnes.
Pallbearers are Tim Bunch, Randy Bunch, Nathan Bunch, Richard Bunch, Dwayne Jeremiah, Brian Wilson, Michael Pettigrew, David Pettigrew and Kevin Pettigrew.
