Three Cameron High School seniors have had the distinction of being named Oklahoma Academic Scholars. Brice Barnes, Tayler Jones and Kenny Whitehead have exceeded minimum requirements for this award.
The Oklahoma Academic Scholars Program recognizes students who have maintained a minimum grade point average of 3.7 throughout high school with a minimum ACT composite score of 27.
Brice Barnes is the son of Brian and Shannon Barnes of Poteau. He plans to attend Carl Albert State College and then OSU and major in psychology.
Jones is the daughter of Davlian and Julie Jones of Cameron. After graduation, she plans to attend either Baylor University in Waco, Texas or Oklahoma State University and pursue a degree in psychology.
Whitehead is the son of Ken and Nancy Whitehead of Cameron and Stacey Roberts of Poteau. He plans to attend Oklahoma State University or University of Arkansas Fort Smith with a major in pre law.
