SPIRO–Betty J Simpson, 75, of Spiro, passed away March 2, 2012 in Fort Smith. She was born Dec. 6, 1936, in Sailor Bottoms of Haskell County to George and Mary Ellen “Skeet” (Long) Smith.
Funeral services are Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mallory-Martin Chapel in Spiro with Chaplain Jeff Little officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery, under the direction of the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home in Spiro.
She is survived by four daughters, Joy Dillard of Fort Smith, Sandra Ritter of Spiro, Martha Sebo of Spiro, and Desiree Newby of Fort Smith; two sons, Rickey French and Brian Simpson, both of Spiro; four sisters, Eunice Corbell of California, Carol Smith of Spiro, Sue Hamby of Spiro, and Joyce Jones of Spiro; six brothers, Don Smith of Spiro,
Tony Smith of Spiro, Pete Smith of Spiro, Dub Smith of California, Ken Smith of California, and Omer Smith of Arizona; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mary Smith; two sons, Randal “Booty” French and Alan French; and one brother, Gerald Smith.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Smith, Geary Hamby, Greg Smith, Brent Collins, Edward Sebo and Chuck Ritter. Honorary Pallbearers are Rick Corbell and Jake Ritter.
Family visitation is Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in Spiro.
