Educational Talent Search (ETS) participants from the CASC Sallisaw program and CASC Student Support Services (SSS) participants attended TRiO Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol.
TRiO programs from across the State of Oklahoma were at the capitol to celebrate the importance of the federally funded TRiO programs to the State of Oklahoma in preparing students for postsecondary education. Guest speakers were Governor Mary Fallin and Representative Tom Cole.
The ETS program at Carl Albert State College is housed at both the Poteau and Sallisaw campuses. The Poteau campus grant is for $306,752 and the Sallisaw grant is $230,000 annually for five years. TRiO programs are 100 percent federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education, and ETS currently serves 650 students through the Poteau program and 600 through the Sallisaw program.
The Student Support Services program of CASC serves 285 students with a budget of $226,600.
