OKLAHOMA C IT Y– State Rep. James Lockhart today praised the approval of his amendment to House Bill 3055 that would ensure the 15-member Water for 2060 Advisory Council includes a member from each Congressional district in Oklahoma.
“I just want to make sure the council has representation from all parts of Oklahoma ,”said Lockhart (D-Heavener). “My district in particular wants to ensure the water resources in our part of the state are managed well and that we have someone from our area representing us on the council.”
House Bill 3055 creates the Water for 2060 Advisory Council, which would recommend more efficient practices related to water and an expansion of education programs for consumer water-use habits. A final report is required no later than three years after the effective date of the legislation.
“This legislation is an important bipartisan effort to better manage our water resources and I am glad my colleagues accepted this friendly amendment to the legislation,” Lockhart said. “We must ensure local input from all parts of Oklahoma on this advisory council.”
House Bill 3055 now proceeds to the Senate for consideration.
