According to the National Weather Service, look for showers again today with thunderstorms possible after 1 p.m. There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation with new rainfall amounts of between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
For tonight, a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Between a 10th and a quarter of inch is expected. Today’s high should be near 61 with a low of 47 for tonight.
A flood warning was issued for the Poteau River near Panama. On Tuesday afternoon, the stage was 34.86 feet and flood stage is 29.0 feet. The Poteau River was expected to rise to 37.2 feet Tuesday night and not drop below flood stage until Thursday afternoon.
At 37.0 feet, extensive flooding of crops and pastures is expected to occur with many roads becoming impassable.
