POTEAU–Second-ranked Tahlequah stayed perfect on the season here Tuesday with a 12-6 win over Poteau in a slowpitch softball game.
Tahlequah improved to 10-0 on the season while the Lady Pirates are 5-3 with all three losses coming to teams ranked in the top seven (Tahlequah, Broken Arrow and Muskogee).
The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second and led 7-2 in the third before Poteau rallied to cut the lead behind a walk to Meagan Ryburn, back-to-back singles by Shelby Standridge and Brenna Vise and a double by Briley Benson.
Tahlequah regained momentum and held on for the win. Poteau is in the Red Oak Tournament starting Thursday.
