POTEAU–In 1988 President Ronald Reagan proclaimed Aug. 21 to be National Senior Citizens Day. This day is to recognize seniors “For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute”.
To recognize seniors from our community Poteau Chamber of Commerce, Oklahoma Health Care Solutions, Peachtree Hospice and Strike-A-Lot bowling alley has joined together by offering a day dedicated just to senior citizens.
The day will feature a health fair with a variety of vendors. These vendors will range from home healths, hospice, assisted living, nursing homes, legal information, rehabilitation facilities, eye and dental care and numerous other informational booths. There will be door prizes and free giveaways.
Strike-A-Lot bowling alley will also be offering free bowling shoe rental along with one free game of bowling. Each senior citizen will receive a free lunch, drink and dessert as well.
