The banquet will be held at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center in Poteau starting at 6 p.m.
Dr. John moved to Poteau in 1952 and begin practicing as the first licensed Veterinarian in LeFlore County. He introduced preventative medicine, herd certification and artificial insemination to local farmers and ranchers in the LeFlore County Area and was very active in the early progress and development of Poteau.
He served as a mentor to Dr. Claude Evans, Dr. Phil Chitwood, Dr. Dubois and Dr. Howard Mitchell.
Dr. John established the local NAACP Chapter, was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame, Veterinarian of the Year by the Oklahoma Vetrinarian Medical Association and served on many boards throug the state.
