The co-authors of the new book are a father and son-in-law team.
Eric Standridge and his father-in-law George Shaw, which are from Wister. Standridge has always had a love for history. Marrying into the Shaw family gave him a great partner as he learned many stories from George Shaw.
The book was released in early summer and is going like wild fire in the area. Poteau Chamber of Commerce, Leflore County Historical Society, Buckley Public Library and other businesses around Poteau are helping to promote the book.
“This book is what we have all been waiting for. Poteau’s last publication Yesterday Revisited has sold out years ago. Eric’s book has come at the right time”, says Karen Wages CEO of the Poteau Chamber of Commerce.
The book signing will take place Thursday in the Poteau Chamber of Commerce Boardroom at 201 South Broadway in Poteau.
Copies of the book will be available to purchase and refreshments will be served from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m.
The Chamber invites anyone who has purchased the book from any other locations to drop by for a meet and greet to get their copy signed. This may be the first publication, but not the last.
Standridge was in the chamber office on Monday talking about other projects that he and George are working on.
