POTEAU–Lester Thompson, 83, of Poteau passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 in Poteau. He was born in Poteau on April 9, 1929 to Bud Andrew and Pernie (Garrett) Thompson, was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a car salesman.
Services are Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Poteau with Rev. Kevin Womack and Rev. Jim Cook officiating. Interment will follow at the Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Miller; and great granddaughter, Sheila Fikes.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joyce, of the home; three sons, Terry Thompson and wife Sandy of Holson Valley, Todd Thompson and Tobey of Poteau; two granddaughters, Kristi Fikes and husband Michael of El Reno, Amber of California; a grandson, Jordan Tyler Thompson of Fort Smith; two great granddaughters, Kalyn and Emma Fikes; one great grandson, Falon; two brothers, Chester Thompson and wife Jaylene of Broken Arrow, OK, and Charley Thompson and wife Sandy of Alma; and two sisters, Billie Hunt and husband Ed of Broken Arrow, and Geraldine Drake and husband Wayne of Hamilton, Mo.
Pallbearers are Frankie Brown, Carl Lockhart, Joe Brinson and L.H. Brinson.
