Seven of the top eight seeds advanced to Friday’s semifinal rounds after Day 2 of the 2014 junior LeFlore County Tournament.
The only team outside of the top seeds to make it to the semifinals was Howe’s boys, which edged fourth-seeded Talihina, 34-32, in overtime.
The Lions will play top-seeded Heavener, which defeated Pocola, 38-26. Second-seeded Monroe defeated Arkoma, 47-36, and third-seeded Wister edged Whitesboro, 42-36.
For the girls, top-seeded Heavener downed Fanshawe, 46-21; second-seeded Poteau overcame an early 17-2 deficit to beat Howe, 44-35; third-seeded Spiro advanced with a 38-30 win over Talihina and No. 4 seed Hodgen slipped by Wister, 32-30.
All games on Wednesday are losers bracket contests and will be played at Arkoma and Pocola.
