TAHLEQUAH–Brandy Rochelle Ellenburg, 33,of Tahlequah passed away on May 28, 2014 in Tahlequah. She was born Dec. 4, 1980 in Fort Smith to Leonard Wayne Ellenburg and Mary Lou (Carney) Ellenburg and was a 1999 graduate of Heavener High School, a 2004 graduate of Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, where she received her teaching degree, and received the 2008 LeFlore Public School Teacher of the Year Award.
A celebration of life will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Fanshawe School Auditorium. Her remains will be buried at a later date at the Fanshawe Cemetery, under the direction of Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home of Heavener.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard Wayne Ellenburg (Retired DAV); a sister, Dana Michelle Thomas; maternal grandparents, Elton Lee and Lizzie (Winclock) Carney; paternal grandparents John Caleb and Jewel (Grubbs) Ellenburg; two aunts, Helen Marie Brannon and Kathryn Louise Seyler; and three uncles, Jerry Fisher, Johnny Ellenburg and Johhny Lee Carney.
She is survived by a daughter, Braya Dawn Ellenburg of the home; a son, Bravin Wayne Ellenburg of the home; her mother, Mary Lou Ellenburg of Poteau, a brother, Chris Thomas of Poteau, four aunts, Patricia Ann Standridge of Mississippi, Doris Box of Fanshawe, Isabel Carney of Fanshawe and Carolyn Fisher of Sapulpa; and an uncle, Omer D. Seyler of Fanshawe.
There will be a family luncheon at 12:30 p.m. on Friday at the Fanshawe School Cafeteria before the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for her children in the name of Mary Lou Ellenburg, Special Account at the Community State Bank in Poteau.
