Talihina moved one step closer to another perfect season, Poteau blew past Broken Bow, Panama won big in its biggest rivalry game and Spiro lost a shootout at Idabel in Week 7 high school football games on Thursday.
Also, Heavener fell at home to Roland (see STORY), Bokoshe could not hang with Thackerville and Haileyville downed Arkoma.
After having last week off, Talihina went to Warner and picked up another easy win, routing the Eagles, 46-0. The win improves the Golden Eagles to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in district play going into next week’s home contest against Quinton.
Roger Barcheers rushed for over 250 yards and Poteau jumped out to a 35-0 lead at Broken Bow en route to a 54-7 win over the Savages in 4A-4 play. The win improves Poteau to 4-3 overall, 3-1 in district play. The Pirates host Sallisaw next week in another key playoff game.
Panama was simply too much for rival Pocola in the annual meeting of LeFlore County teams. The Razorbacks built a 34-0 lead at halftime and went on to take a 48-0 win.
Andy Burris rushed for a pair of touchdowns and added a pair of scores through the air to Blake Emmert and Ben Whiteaker. Donald Lotchleas scored Panama’s first touchdown and Justin Gregory returned an interception for the Razorbacks.
Panama improves to 5-2 and 2-1 in the district heading into next week’s home game against Wilburton. Pocola drops to 2-5 and 1-2 and hosts Vian.
Spiro trailed 34-27 at the half in its game at Idabel before the Warriors outscored the Bulldogs, 28-6, in the third quarter to pull away in a 69-39 win.
Spiro falls to 4-2 and 1-2. Idabel improves to 6-1 and 2-1. Spiro hosts Heavener next week.
Arkoma lost at home to Haileyville, 62-36, as the Mustangs fall to 1-6 and 0-6 in district play. Arkoma visits Wetumka next week.
Bokoshe fell to Thackerville, 58-8, to drop to 0-7 and 0-5. The Tigers host Webbers Falls next week.
