POTEAU—Candidates for the board of education in 17 LeFlore County school districts will file their declarations of candidacy over three days beginning Monday at 8 a.m. and continuing through Wednesday, according to LeFlore County election board secretary Sharon Steele.
Steele said the official filing period ends at 5 p.m. on Wednesday. All candidate filings will occur at the LeFlore County Election board office at 103 N. Church Street in Poteau.
Board of education positions at stake will be filled at the annual school election scheduled for Feb. 10, 2015. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in this election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in an election on April 7, 2015.
Offices for which declarations of candidacy will be accepted at the county election board include the following: Arkoma (office 5); Bokoshe (office 5); Cameron (office 5); Fanshawe (Office 2); Heavener (office 5); Hodgen (office 2); Howe (office 5); LeFlore (office 5); Monroe (office 2); Panama (office 5); Pocola (office 5); Poteau (office 5); Shady Point (office 2); Spiro (office 5); Talihina (office 5); Whitesboro (office 5); and Wister (office 5).
