Sales tax collections were up in January for nine of the 14 incorporated towns in LeFlore County.
Overall, LeFlore County towns brought in $706,272.09, $8,337.02 over January of 2016.
Pocola showed the largest jump, going from $44,245.10 to $60,151.74, partly because of an increase in the sales tax rate for the community.
Arkoma, Fanshawe, Howe, LeFlore, Pocola, Poteau, Rock Island, Shady Point and Talihina all had larger sales tax receipts for the month. Bokoshe, Cameron, Heavener, Panama, Spiro and Wister collected less in sales tax for the month.
Spiro had the biggest drop of $4,476.87 as sales tax dropped from $43,184.99 last year to $38,708.12. Heavener had the second largest drop, going from $71,865.65 to $67,706.81, a decrease of $4,158.84.
LeFlore County’s tax receipts dropped from $555,677.52 a year ago to $544,715.37, a decrease of $10,962.15.
