POTEAU—The 10th annual Cavanal Killer and 8k walk/run will be held May 13.
The Cavanal Killer is five miles of switchback roadway terrain, 1,500 feet high with the road having an average grade of eight percent and going up to 14 percent in some sections.
Registration time on the date is at 8 a.m. with the event starting at 9 a.m.
The registration and parking will be at the Poteau Primary School at 407 Hughes Drive.
The pre-registration deadline is April 21. The event is non-refundable but you may transfer your registration to another individual. If transfer is done before the pre-registration deadline, shirt size can be changed. If after pre-registration deadline, shirt sizes may not be changed.
The goal of the Cavanal Killer is to promote fitness and Cavanal Hill. This is not a race, although it is chip timed. Every participant will receive a completion medal as they cross the finish line.
Early bird registration fee is $25 while the late registration fee (after 5 p.m. on April 21) is $30.
Everybody must register by April 21 to receive a t-shirt. are not included in packets and will be given to participants as they cross the finish line at the top of the hill.
Participants must have official event bib number on in order to receive medal.
All runners and walkers should wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing. Water will be provided at stations on the way, but participants are encouraged to bring their own.
A light lunch will be provided at the top. Transportation will be provided back down the hill. Runners are asked to start at beginning of line, walkers behind runners, anyone pushing a stroller or slower walkers should line up toward the back.
For the safety of the participants, everybody is asked to not drive personal vehicles to the top of the hill or that you do not call and ask for personal transportation back down the hill.
Busses will be providing transportation from the top back to the school for both walkers and runners
