WILBURTON—Howe’s girls have had a fairly easy run through the Class 2A tournament so far.
That continued Friday night as the Lady Lions made their reservations for another trip to the state tournament and won the area championship with an 80-41 win over Tushka.
Howe’s opponent, time and location for Thursday’s state tournament game will be announced on Sunday by the OSSAA.
Both teams entered the game with identical 26-2 records, but Howe grabbed the lead early and used its superior depth to wear down the Lady Tigers.
Howe led 37-25 at the half before outscoring Tushka 43-16 in the second half.
The win was second-ranked Howe’s 20th straight. The Lady Lions were led by Jalei Oglesby with 31 points while Braden Dorsey added 15.
Tushka got 12 points from Ryann Cochran and 11 from Jaylee Eaves. The Lady Tigers will play Wright City in the area consolation championship Saturday at 6:30 p.m. with the winner of that game also advancing to the state tournament.
