POTEAU—A 10-year-old Poteau boy died from injuries suffered in an ATV accident Sunday at 7 p.m. on Riverbend Road, three miles easy of Poteau.
He was taken to the Poteau Hospital before being life flighted to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa where he died early Monday morning.
He was driving a 2015 Polaris Ace ATV and tried to pass a 2016 Honda Pioneer ATV driven by a 14-year-old Poteau boy. There was also a 15-year-old Poteau boy and a 5-year-old girl from Poteau on the Honda ATV.
The driver of the Honda was trying to turn into a private drive when the driver of the Polaris tried to pass on the right, where he struck the Honda, which rolled and partially ejected the driver.
None of the youth on the Honda were injured and they freed the 10-year-old.
The accident was investigated by Trooper Cody Jackson and Trooper Ryan Williams.
