POTEAU—Poteau avenged a 16-6 loss on Monday at Broken Bow by rallying for a 8-7 win over the Savages on Tuesday in district play.
Dawson Perry singled in the bottom of the seventh to bring home Jordan Collins. Collins led off the bottom of the seventh, was advanced to second on a sacrifice before scoring the winning run on Perry’s hit.
After scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth, Poteau held a 7-2 lead. Broken Bow knotted the score with a five-run seventh, setting the stage for the winning rally.
Collins went 3-3 with two runs and a RBI while Perry was 2-2 with a run and the winning RBI. Ben Klutts had a 3-4 game with a double and a run scored, Carson Cheek was 2-4 with two RBI and a run scored while Kale Barcheers went 2-4 with two RBI.
Barcheers also got the win in relief of Klutts. He pitched 1.0 innings, allowing two hits while striking out one. Klutts went the first 6.0 innings, giving up 10 hits with one strikeout.
Poteau plays Perkins-Tyron in the McLoud Tournament on Thursday. The Pirates improve to 5-2 overall, 3-1 in district play. Broken Bow drops to 6-4 and 2-1 in the district.
