POTEAU—Poteau improved to 4-0 in baseball on Friday with a doubleheader sweep over Idabel in district play.
Poteau is back in action Monday at Collinsville.
The Pirates won the opener 15-0 by scoring all 15 runs in the third inning before capturing the second contest, 4-2.
In the opener, Carson Cheek was 3-3 with a pair of doubles, three RBI and two runs, Jordan Collins went 2-2 with a double and two RBI, Clay Cross had a 2-3 game with two RBI and two runs, Rece Ward was 1-2 with a double, two runs and a RBI, Ben Klutts doubled and was 1-2 with a run and RBI, Bryson Myers knocked in a pair of runs, doubled and was 1-2 and Mason Barcheers went 1-1 and scored twice.
Myers got the win, going 3.0 innings while striking out four and allowing one hit. Jaden Collins finished up, pitching two innings with five strikeouts and a hit.
In the second game, Poteau scored once in the first, another run in the second and two in the seventh while Idabel scored twice in the bottom of the seventh.
Cross was 2-2 with one RBI while Klutts was 2-4 with two runs and a double. Klutts was the winning pitcher, going 4.0 innings with five strikeouts and no hits. Cheek pitched one inning with one hit and a strikeout while Jaden Collins pitched the final two innings, allowing three hits and the two runs while striking out two.
