Students from Carl Albert State College joined with more than 200 students, faculty, representatives from Oklahoma’s public colleges and universities, and other supporters at the state Capitol Tuesday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Oklahoma’s Promise scholarship program.
The event was to show appreciation for the Governor and Legislature’s ongoing support of the program, and to encourage legislators to continue to fund the program.
Featured speakers during the event were administrator Scott Pruitt, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb; Oklahoma attorney general Mike Hunter; Sen. Jason Smalley; Rep. Katie Henke; and former Sen. Maxine Horner, author of the original bill that created the scholarship program.
The Carl Albert State College students were accompanied to the event by CASC vice president of Enrollment Management Jennifer Humphreys.
