POTEAU—Heavener and Wister are back in the winner’s bracket finals of a softball LeFlore County Tournament.
This time it is the slow-pitch variety and the two teams will battle Thursday at 5 p.m. with the winner advancing to the championship game later that night.
The two teams took different routes to advance on Tuesday. Heavener blasted Panama, 18-7, (see STORY) while the Lady Wildcats rallied in their final at bat to defeat Howe, 6-5.
Wister held a 5-2 lead going into the seventh inning before Howe rallied to tie the score.
The Lady Wildcats answered in the bottom half of the inning. Kati Patterson singled with one out and scored on a hit by Stevee McMillin to give Wister the win.
Howe and Panama both stayed alive in later games. Howe blanked Poteau, 10-0, while Panama moved on with a 13-5 win over Pocola.
Howe and Pocola also play at 5 p.m. with the winner facing the Heavener/Wister loser at 6:20 p.m. The winner of that contest advances to play the Heavener/Wister winner at 7:40 p.m. in the first championship game.
