CALERA—LeFlore won its third straight elimination game and moved one win away from a berth in the Class B state baseball tournament with a pair of wins on Thursday.
The Savages got a pair of stellar pitching performances from Blake Crase and Jett Carver in a 4-0 win over Kiowa and an 18-3 blasting of Moss.
LeFlore will play fifth-ranked Moss (25-4) again Friday with the winner advancing to the state tournament.
The Savages lost to Kiowa, 6-5, in the opening game of the tournament before downing Smithville, 12-2, in the second contest.
Crase threw a 7-hitter as LeFlore blanked Kiowa in Thursday’s opener. He struck out 10 in going the distance and also doubled and was 2-3 with a RBI and a run.
Hagen Earls hit a double and went 2-3 with a RBI and a run while Carver had a 2-4 game with a double and two runs scored.
In Thursday’s second game, Carver kept Moss’ bats in check, throwing a 4-hitter while striking out nine. LeFlore scored three runs in the third inning before adding eight in the fourth and seven more in the fifth for the run-rule win.
Crase homered and was 3-4 with four RBI and three runs while Luke Jackson went 3-3 with two doubles, two runs and a RBI. Stetson Adams had a 2-4 game with a pair of doubles while driving in four runs and scoring twice, Dawson Warren also doubled twice and was 2-4 with a run and RBI.
Carver helped his own cause by going 1-2 with three RBI and three runs.
