POCOLA—Pocola scored a pair of easy wins over Hulbert in Class 2A district baseball tournament action on Tuesday.
The wins advanced the Indians to next week’s regional tournament with a 17-5 record. Hulbert is eliminated with a 9-16 record.
Pocola won the opener 13-0, before clinching the district championship with a 12-0 victory in the nightcap.
In the opener, Hunter Taylor got the win for the Indians, going 4.0 innings with seven strikeouts while allowing two hits.
Jacob Miller and Derek Carter both homered for Pocola. Miller was 1-1 with two runs and a RBI, Carter went 1-2 with three RBI and a run while Kyler Helms doubled and was 2-2 with a run and RBI and Kyler Ree also doubled while going 1-3 with two RBI and two runs.
Tatum Lomon got the win for Pocola in the second game. He went 4.0 innings, gave up three hits and struck out five.
Ree tripled and was 1-2 with a RBI and run, Helms had a pair of doubles while going 2-2 with two runs and a RBI, Dakota Wofford doubled in a 1-2 outing with two RBI and two runs while Carter also doubled and was 1-2 with two RBI and a run.
