PANAMA—Kolton Lynn threw a three-hitter as Wister fought its way back into the championship game of the 2017 baseball LeFlore County Tournament on Friday with a 9-1 win over Panama.
The defending champions will play Poteau at 2 p.m. on Saturday. If Poteau wins, the Pirates are the tournament champions. A Wister win will force another game at 4 p.m. for the championship.
Poteau defeated Wister, 7-5, on Thursday in the winner’s bracket finals (see STORY).
Lynn went all five innings, striking out four. Panama actually took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth before Wister answered with seven runs in the bottom half of the inning on a home run by Ethan Billings, a double by Scotty Gibson and a triple by Cash Balentine.
The Wildcats (9-4) then ended the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth by run rule to move on.
Gibson was 2-2 with the double, a RBI and run scored while Billings knocked in a pair of runs, homered and was 1-3 with a run scored while Balentine knocked in three runs, scored once and went 1-2 and Bryar Ward was 1-2 with a RBI and run scored.
Rowdy Downs was the losing pitcher for the Razorbacks (13-5).
Earlier, Panama scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to defeat Pocola, 10-6.
