OKLAHOMA CITY—Poteau’s boys finished third in the 4A state golf tournament by finishing with a 310 on Tuesday.
The Pirates finished the three rounds with scores of 296, 307 and 310 for a combined 913, one stroke behind second-place Ada. Heritage Hall ran away with the championship, finishing at 867.
Poteau’s Ryan Ward finished tied for sixth by shooting 71, 71, 73 for a 215. Other scores for the Pirates were Bryson Terry 76-73-75 (224), Justun Coyle 73-78-80 (231), Jerry Loggains 76-86-82 (244) and Luke Wheat 94-85-83 (262).
Brice Terry of Checotah finished tied for third with a 212. He is the son of Heavener graduate Brian Terry, who is the athletic director for Checotah. He was named to the all-state team for the East.
In the 3A state tournament, Heavener’s Jacob Davis shot an 85 on Tuesday to finish with scores off 89-79-85 for a 253 total.
