POTEAU—Poteau won both its games in the 4A regional baseball tournament to advance to the championship game and one win away from a repeat trip to the state tournament.
In the winner’s bracket finals, Kale Barcheers knocked in five runs as the Pirates defeated Stilwell, 10-6, after defeating Wagoner earlier, 12-0.
Against Stilwell, Ben Klutts was the winning pitcher, going 2.2 innings with five strikeouts and one hit. Barcheers was 3-3 with a double and a run scored. Dawson Perry also doubled and went 2-3 with two runs while Klutts was 3-4 with two runs and a RBI and Rece Ward was 1-2 with two runs and a RBI.
Bryson Myers threw a 1-hitter over five innings in the opener as Poteau scored at least one run in every inning during the win over Wagoner.
Myers had five strikeouts while Clay Cross went 3-3 with a double, five RBI and two runs. Ward went 3-4 with a RBI, Klutts was 2-4 with a run while Easton Francis also doubled while going 1-1 with three runs.
Poteau will play again Friday at 5 p.m. If the Pirates win, they advance to the state tournament. A loss would force the if game on Saturday.
