POCOLA—Choctaw Casino & Resort of Pocola hosted a spring blackjack tournament and the total number of buy-ins at the end of the tournament were matched and donated to the Mercy Health Foundation’s NICU program.
The resort presented a check for $5,000 to the foundation.
“We certainly appreciate the time and energy Choctaw and their employees put forth to raise these funds to support our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit,” states Clark Ellison, Regional Vice President Philanthropy for Mercy Health. “The blackjack tournament was a fun and creative way to highlight our NICU and support our tiniest patients.”
The check for $5,000 was presented to Mercy NICU on Friday at Mercy’s NICU Unit located in Fort Smith, Ark.
“Our first charity blackjack tournament was a huge success this past spring,” said Leslie Lumley, marketing director at Choctaw Casino & Resort of Pocola. “Mercy’s NICU unit is the one of only five in the state of Arkansas and the only one in the River Valley to offer such care. We are proud to continue our long-standing relationship so it can continue to help the children in our community. We hope to continue this blackjack tournament and support this worthy cause for many years to come.”
Choctaw Casino & Resort of Pocola give back to their community throughout the year by participating in many local events such as Ales for Trails and the River Valley Dragon Boat Races, as well as a huge breast cancer campaign during the month of October.
