POCOLA—Pocola split its two games in the Pocola Tournament on Thursday while Heavener defeated Stigler.
Heavener defeated Stigler, 12-0, and will play Muldrow Friday at 7 p.m. (see STORY).
Pocola opened with a 2-0 win over Quinton before falling to Savanna in a semifinal game, 4-2.
In the win over Quinton, the game was tied until Morgan Francis and Dache Benge both knocked in a run in the bottom of the sixth. Shakyrah Gladness was the winning pitcher in relief of Kyla Abdulla.
Gladness went the final 3.0 innings, allowing no hits while striking out eight. Abdulla went 4.0 innings, striking out three and allowing two hits.
Kenzie Tuck doubled and was 2-3 with a run scored while Benge also doubled while going 1-3 with the RBI. Francis was 1-3 with a run scored and a RBI.
Against Savanna, Pocola fell behind 4-0 before Gladness hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the third. Gladness went 1-2 with two RBI and a run scored. She also went the distance pitching, allowing eight hits while striking out three.
In an early game, Quinton defeated Bokoshe, 22-0.
