POTEAU—Sage Anson doubled and was the winning pitcher for Wister in a 4-3 victory at Poteau Monday in fast-pitch softball.
Anson was 2-3 with a RBI and pitched the final 4.0 innings to get the win, striking out four while allowing only two hits. Cailey Yochum pitched the first three innings, giving up three hits.
Wister broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the top of the seventh inning for the win. Anson singled to start the inning and was forced at second on a grounder by Katie Hammons. Kati Patterson singled and Hammons then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Brax McMillin hit a grounder to third, which was misplayed, allowing Hammons to score the winning run.
Anson went 2-3 with a RBI and Destiny McGee was 2-3 with a run and a RBI.
For Poteau, Kaylee Nixon doubled and was 2-3 with a RBI, Jill Cochran doubled in a 1-2 game with a run scored and Tori Morgan doubled and finished 1-2 with a RBI.
Kylie Turner took the loss for Poteau, going the distance while allowing nine hits and striking out one.
Both teams are back in action Tuesday as Poteau visits Red Oak and Wister goes to Central Sallisaw.
