HOWE—Howe won both its games in the Class 2A fast-pitch softball regional at Fairland to move one win away from the state tournament.
The Lady Lions opened with an 8-3 win over Chouteau-Mazie before defeating Fairland in the winner’s bracket game, 12-1, in six innings.
Howe plays the Fairland/Wyandotte winner Friday at 1 p.m. If the Lady Lions win, they advance to the 2A state tournament. A loss will force another championship game at 3 p.m.
Justyn Lynn and Dani Collins both homered in the win over Fairland. Lynn was 2-3 with a 3-run home run, three runs and three RBI while Collins was 1-3 with the homer and two RBI. Sydnie Womack doubled and finished 4-4 with three runs, Zoe Nation was 2-3 with a double and two runs and Peyton Stubbs doubled, knocked in two runs, scored once and finished 1-3.
Makaleah Lewis was the winning pitcher for Howe to improve to 9-2.
Against Chouteau, Womack homered, scored twice and knocked in two runs while going 2-3, Lynn doubled and went 2-4 with two RBI and a run, Collins was 3-4 with a double and two RBI and Jalei Oglesby scored three runs and was 1-3.
Lewis was the winning pitcher against Chouteau, also.
