HOWE—Howe used a big comeback and a blowout win to sweep Talihina in a 2A fast-pitch softball district tournament on Tuesday.
The Lady Lions rallied to win the opener, 6-5, before scoring a 17-0 victory in the second contest.
Abby Davidson was the winning pitcher in the 6-5 victory to improve to 18-6 on the season. Talihina held a 5-0 lead going into the bottom of the sixth when the Lady Lions scored four runs.
Howe added two runs in the seventh with Justyn Lynn’s two-run single bringing in the tying and winning run.
For Howe, Loren Ford-Rogers hit two doubles and was 2-4 with two runs while Zoe Nation was 2-4 with a double, RBI and two runs.
Kailey Daney went 3-4 with a double and two runs for Talihina, Katie Harger was 2-4 with a run, Hailey McClain finished 2-3 with two RBI and a run.
Makaleah Lewis was the winning pitcher in the 17-0 game to improve to 7-2. She struck out five and allowed only one hit.
Sydnie Womack was 3-4 with a 3-run homer, a double, five RBI and three runs, Ford-Rogers hit a 2-run home run, doubled, scored three runs and had two RBI, Nation was 2-4 with three runs and Dani Collins was 3-4 with a double, three runs and a RBI.
Kinsey Morris had Talihina’s only hit.
Howe (26-9) advances to the 2A regional tournament next week at a location to be determined.
