It was a rough week at the LCJ/Ledger picks last time out, going a miserable 3-3. Yep, it was like somebody kicked us in the privates with a steel-toed boot.
We don’t accept so-so here and already fear this will make it impossible to better last year’s remarkable accomplishment. Overall, a disappointing 6-4 on the season.
We failed at the Heavener and Panama game (but only by 40 points), the Durant at Poteau game (but only by 35 points) and Roland at Spiro, but hey, at least it was close and the Bulldogs had a big lead.
The good thing is we get another opportunity this week and most of the picks appear easier, at least we hope so. Enough of the clatter, we shall pick.
HEAVENER AT STILWELL—The Wolfies are 0-2 and took a step back last week while Stilwell defeated Muldrow, 52-47, in a game where both teams forgot to play defense. Hopefully, Heavener will bounce back this week, but Stilwell could be one of the better teams the Wolves play. STILWELL 42, HEAVENER 35.
POTEAU AT TULSA HALE—Poteau went wild in last week’s win over Durant, scoring the final 28 points to make a close game a blowout. We don’t think there will be anything close about this one. Look for a blowout, a big blowout, even with Poteau still without several starters. POTEAU 56, TULSA HALE 0.
SPIRO AT MULDROW—We’re big on the Bulldogs this week and firmly believe they will win. Easiest pick of the week as both teams are Bulldogs, eh, eh, never mind. Spiro and Muldrow both lost disappointing games last week. We’ll go with the homies. MULDROW 38, SPIRO 35.
CENTRAL SALLISAW AT PANAMA—Panama was a much better team than expected last week and should be even better with Kale Barcheers, formerly of Poteau, joining the squad. Central is supposed to be better, but it likely won’t matter this time. PANAMA 42, CENTRAL 14.
POTEAU JV AT POCOLA—A dreaded varsity vs. junior varsity game. Like, how does one pick one of these? The varsity team should naturally win, but that isn’t always the case. Plus, Pocola got dunked by Hackett last week. POTEAU JV 21, POCOLA 14.
WEBBERS FALLS AT ARKOMA—Hopefully, Arkoma got its ship straightened out last week. We’re going with the Mustangs since they are at home and a bigger class. ARKOMA 53, WEBBERS FALLS 44.
BOKOSHE AT CAVE SPRINGS—Don’t know a thing about the Cave Springs team and very little about those fighting Tigers of Bokoshe. We’ll take Cave Springs since it is at Cave Springs. CAVE SPRINGS 38, BOKOSHE 32.
